Each year, both The Riverside Park Conservancy and The Garden People schedule work days and volunteer sessions where everyone is welcome to pitch in to help and to meet the gardeners who help tend spots throughout Riverside Park.

In every season there’s something to look at in the garden, even in the heart of winter when snow blankets the dried blooms, grasses, and shrubs. So we hope you’ll bundle up and stop by during the winter months, too, to enjoy a quiet moment at the garden.

2019 Events 
​All Volunteer Sessions were on Saturdays, 10:00am to 12 Noon.

2018 Events
Spring & Fall Work Days were very successful - great weather, great turnout and projects completed!

2017 Events
July 22: Spring Work Day. Thank you to our gardeners who worked on various projects! We hope to see you at this year's Fall Work Day!

2015 Events 
It was a beautiful Spring and Summer at the garden. And a mild winter followed by an erratic Spring.

2014 Events 
We're starting the new growing season in the garden with volunteer days starting up mid-April, and welcome anyone who would like to learn more about gardening, or who would like to volunteer at the garden. Everyone is invited.

2013 Events 
We had a beautiful season in the garden, with many new faces and varieties to share. 

2012 Events
It's My Park Day is a great way to come celebrate the community spirit that grows from our community gardens across the city and boroughs. 

2011 Events
June 25th - The Garden People 30th Anniversary Party - was enjoyed by members, volunteers, guests and neighborhood residents, especially the children.

2010 Events
October 23rd - Fall It's My Park Day and our Fall Full Membership Work Day

2009 Events
Fall It's My Park Day was re-scheduled to the 25th.
It's My Park Day was May 16th, 10 AM to 1 PM. 
A good time was enjoyed by all!

2008 Events
Saturday, October 25th, 2008 was It's My Park Day, a day for community work projects.

Sept. 21, 2008 was our FlOWER POWER FALL FLING, showcasing artists who have derived inspiration from the Garden for their pictures, photographs and paintings. Music provided by the Kuri Jazz Trio.

Saturday, May 17, 2008 was Spring "It's My Park! Day". We had a successful day restoring and painting the garden fence.


2007 Events
Sat., October 20, 2007 was our Fall Work Day. Almost 40 members and volunteers participated and enjoyed the cool breezes and sunshine.


2006 Events
25th Anniversary Fair was held on June 10, 2006. Fair weather encouraged a large turnout of well-wishers and gardeners who were treated to a display of art inspired by the garden, works by the students of nearby P.S. 166 and speeches by officials from the Riverside Park Fund and NYC Parks.  

Poetry At the Garden
On October 1, 2023 there was a poetry reading given by Thursday Morning Poets of New York, a reading in coalition with 100,000 Poets for Change, a global organization using poetry to promote positive change. This marks the third year they have held their event at the 91st Street Garden.

Strangers before the pandemic, Thursday Morning Poets (TMP) first met at a Queens Public Library virtual workshop led by Queens Poet Laureate Maria Lisella, whose prompt-based workshop inspired them to continue on their own, forming TMP.
